Day 283 – Happy Mondays no. 4
Appreciating
Ever felt there must be more to life? Well good news, there is! And it’s right here in front of us. We just need to stop and take notice.
Learning to be more mindful and aware can do wonders for our well-being in all areas of life – like our walk to work, the way we eat or our relationships. It helps us get in tune with our feelings and stops us dwelling on the past or worrying about the future – so we get more out of the day-to-day.
via Action for Happiness.
Today’s action for Happiness is to stop and notice the World around you. Slow things down (one of my long wanted wishes, but often so hard to achieve) and appreciate what is happening around you. And most importantly, let go of the little stuff (and some of the big that is overpowering you!)
I really like the idea of taking time out, just 10 minutes a day for a short breather on life. Headspace shows you how to, with a ’10 minutes for 10 days’ program. I’m going to give it a go, starting on the train to Paris tonight, and start to learn to drift a little.
Looking forward to it!
You can also just take time out with your favourite way of relaxing, whether it’s swimming (very rhythmic), gardening, or walking and watching. The important thing is to free your mind. And then observe. You never know, I might just see a whole new side to Paris tomorrow!

Hey good luck with the ten minute time out program! Sounds a bit similar to the mindfulness scheme I’m embarking on. So far the main thing I’m noticing is that I’m more aware of the times when I’m not noticing stuff around me – sounds the wrong way round but I hope you now what I mean!
Hope it enriches your journey – Paris seems a fab place to start!
Unfortunately Paris is on hold while I battle stomach flu ;( …… but still trying to take those 10 mins out curled up on the sofa!
