Day 276 – Happy Mondays no. 3
Exercise
Our body and our mind are connected. Being active makes us happier as well as being good for our physical health. It instantly improves our mood and can even lift us out of a depression. We don’t all need to run marathons – there are simple things we can all do to be more active each day. And we can also boost our well-being by unplugging from technology, getting outside and – importantly – making sure we get enough sleep!

Exercise is the 3rd action for Happiness on a Monday. Interesting as this weekend was the Brussels Marathon, and in sweltering heat a lot of brave souls pounded the streets. However, I do prefer the poster slogan ‘Be active, Rest, Relax, Repeat Daily!’
We went bowling, also great fun, and as our internet was cut off, we stayed away from technology, caught up with good friends, and had an early night. The more and more I think about it, as we have introduced a far amount of exercise into our lives, we now need to find that off switch again. I can feel new New Years Resolutions coming on!! And it’s true, the rest and relax part is just as important as the exercise, otherwise we just create a viscous circle.
And on the head count from last week (regarding the ‘happiness action’ to Relate), well we failed on the getting to know someone on the edge of the circle (as one set of neighbours are now in the enemy camp!), but succeeded in having a great week with old friends and new.
Moving forwards, may’be it’s time to introduce the screen ban (after such a success with the Verbeelen family!) and more sleep…….. I like it!!
